I was fortunate to spend a few days at a retreat on the Agulowak River in western Alaska this summer. The Agulowak flows out of Lake Nerka, one of the chain of lakes in the Wood-Tikchik State Park.
I was up early one morning and decided to enjoy the morning light out by the boats. Fortunately I took my camera. As I was looking around, I glanced to the East just in time to see the sun rising above the distant trees. These are the kinds of scenes which caused me to take up painting. When I see a scene like this I know it is very fleeting and I am filled with a desire to try to hang onto it.
This painting will be donated to The Conservation Fund for their annual fundraiser. The funds will be used to help preserve places just like this.
